It is time for a detox

Can you feel the energy rising?

It’s spring and nature is shifting from Ying (passive, slow, dark, inward) to Yang (active, energized, bright, outward). As humans are a part of nature, we should normally also feel this active energy rising in our bodies.

If this is not the case for you, then you either didn’t get enough rest in winter, or your body is in need of a detox.

can you feel this rise of energy?

The organ of spring is the Liver. In both modern and Traditional Chinese medicine, the liver’s main function is detoxification of the body. It is important to understand that no magic remedy, tea or powder can detoxify our body – the body can only detoxify itself. Period.

What we can do is support our body – in this case mainly the liver – in doing its work, or use special agents that bind harmful substances so that they can be flushed out by the kidneys. This primarily means eliminating or minimising everything that harms the liver, starting with alcohol and other drugs, including pharmaceuticals.

The body can only detoxify itself. Period.

We can support our liver with the right diet. The color of the liver is green so think green when you choose your food: anything from spinach, lettuce, kale & broccoli to different herbs and green spices. Remember that local and seasonal food is always the best choice, because it comes from an environment that is energetically similar to your body’s.

it is only safe to detoxify the body that is full.

To further help your body in the process of detoxification, you can add green algae like spirulina and chlorella to your diet. When using more potent detoxifying agents, please keep in mind that it is only safe to detoxify the body that is full. If your body is empty, meaning if it lacks nutrients, anything that washes things out can cause it more harm than good. So make sure to build up first and only then detox.

We know that we are more than just a body. When we’re talking about detoxifying the body, we certainly must not forget about detoxifying our mind and our emotional body. Think about what you want to carry with you through the year, and what you want to leave behind. Spring is energetically the most convenient time for a detox of all sorts.

New beginnings are wonderful! Let’s make room for all the good things.
