My journey began somewhere halfway into medical school when I realised that western medicine, despite being very successful in treating acute and often serious illnesses, is missing the holistic component. We were never taught or inspired to take care of our own health. We never learned about nutrition and about how powerfully food affects our body. We didn’t talk about taking care of patients’ (or our own) mental health and how the mind and the spirit are connected to the body. Hospitals were full of doctors running on caffeine and nicotine. Twenty-five hour long shifts were depriving us of sleep and healthy rhythm. On top of that, the hierarchical and often very patriarchal system wasn’t adding up to our well-being. Despite all the valuable things that I’ve learned, something seemed to be off.
My intuition led me to discovering traditional medicine. I enrolled in a class about acupuncture and was instantly impressed by the holistic approach of Traditional Chinese medicine. I started studying more and at the same time, healing my own body. I realised that if I want to help people towards better health, I first must embody it myself. I changed night shifts for a healthy routine and canteen meals for home cooked food. I stepped on a path that many didn’t (and don’t) understand. I continue walking this path, learning, uncovering, and healing. I believe with all my heart that our body has a perfect ability to serve us on a path to reaching our highest potential. It is our vessel and our job is to keep it healthy.
You’ll find me stretching on a yoga mat, cooking veggies according to my cycle, journaling with the moon, or dancing to tribal music.
I’m organised, determined and often a perfectionist. I don’t like mess and surprises. Luckily I have a Wood person by my side, who balances my metal by reminding me that it’s fun to go a little wild from time to time. My weak organ system is the respiratory tract - I instantly start to sneeze when it’s cold or windy.
I am creative and have the power to make the ideas happen.
I have many passions – I like to dip my toes into different subjects, diving deep into research in order to understand. I learn best by doing (putting the knowledge into practice). Life serves me most when I rely on my »gut feeling« to guide me.
I am ambitious, responsible and driven. I combine traditional with new, progressive, out of the box. I am passionate about improving our community. I love learning, acquiring new information and sharing knowledge with others.
I studied medicine in Maribor, Slovenia and in Graz, Austria, and I worked as a doctor in both Slovenia and later in Austria. Despite having a great respect for conventional medicine I also learned about its limits early on my way.
I was very eager to study other aspects of human life, health and well-being. I was instinctively drawn to traditional ways of healing and started to learn about Traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. I studied acupuncture and ear acupuncture with auricular medicine in Austria, and did yoga teacher training in India.
I lived in and travelled to different places and countries, which allowed me to get to know different healthcare systems and learn about the ways that people take care of their health, according to what is accessible to them. I know how to use the most modern and the most ancient ways of healing and I understand the strengths and the faults of both worlds.
In 2022, I got my Ius practicandi as a general practitioner, which I was always determined to achieve. This also marked the end of a certain era of my life. I recently moved to the Canary Islands, where I’m enjoying the ocean and starting a new chapter in my personal and professional growth.
