FAQ
Is acupuncture for everyone?
Acupuncture will benefit the big majority of people, but just like anything else, it is not for everyone. When done professionally, acupuncture can’t harm you because it brings the body towards the state of balance. However, some people find acupuncture uncomfortable, usually because of their fear of needles. There are also some contraindications for acupuncture, which include severe clotting disorders, and some psychiatric conditions. Please consult me directly if you have any doubts.
What can acupuncture be used to treat?
The short answer? Just about everything. Chinese medicine is a complete system of medicine that has been used for thousands of years to treat a broad range of disorders. It is usually more helpful for chronic issues than acute ones.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very fine and they are inserted gently. Acupuncture is typically painless, but each person will experience it differently. Some patients report feeling slight pressure or pain as the needle is inserted. Once the needles are in place, the pain is gone and most people experience a feeling of relaxation and wellbeing that lasts for many hours after the treatment.
I will check in with you to ensure you are feeling comfortable and relaxed. I use only the highest quality needles to ensure the best experience.
What can I expect from my initial consultation and first treatment?
At your first visit you will receive a diagnostic and a comprehensive consultation which I will prepare based on the answers that you provided in a detailed form (you will receive the form per e-mail after booking your first appointment). The initial consultation will include the treatment as well. Your first session will last approximately 75 minutes in total.
How long do the sessions take?
Your first treatment (including the initial consultation) will last approximately 75 minutes in total. Any Follow-Up acupuncture treatments will last approximately 50 minutes. The needles stay in the body around 20 min upon insertion.
How often will I have to come in for acupuncture before I see results?
Each case is unique and everyone responds to treatment differently. There are certain issues that can be addressed in a visit or two; other cases might require more treatments until your goal is met. Often, patients will notice relief from a specific symptom straight away, though we may need more time to work on the underlying root of the issue. Generally it takes 6-8 consecutive sessions to get the desired result. After that, individual sessions every 4-6 weeks are recommended. There is also a low percentage of people who don’t respond to acupuncture (so-called non-responders). If there is absolutely no effect after two to three treatments, I will usually suggest you to try a different kind of therapy.
Are there any risks?
Acupuncture is one of the safest treatment procedures and is statistically much safer than taking any kind of pharmaceutic drug. However, there are some risks and contraindications which we will discuss in detail before your first treatment session. Please e-mail me if you have any concerns.
How much time before my first appointment should I fill out the medicine form?
I will ask you to complete the form at least 48h before your first appointment. This will give me enough time to prepare for the consultation. The form is submitted online.
How can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know as soon as you can by email. I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so appointments altered within 24 hours of the scheduled treatment time will result in a fee.
How much does a session cost?

What should I wear for my session?
You can wear whatever you’d like. If I will have to ask you to take off any items of clothing, I will provide you with blankets to cover up.
What languages do you speak in the studio?
I fluently speak Slovenian, English and German. Consultations can be done in any of these languages.
